If you have written help articles somewhere else, you do not have to retype them. Settings › Help site › Import an existing help center copies them across.
Zendesk, Intercom and Help Scout work today.
See what we found first
Paste the address of your help center — something like support.yourcompany.com/hc/en-us — and choose Check.
Nothing is created yet. We read the public pages and tell you how many articles and collections we found, and how many drafts we will leave behind. If the number looks wrong, that is the moment to fix the address.
If the address cannot be used, we say why rather than just failing: we do not recognise that help center, nothing published was found there, or it cannot be reached from outside your network.
Then import
Choose Import and it runs in the background. You can leave the page; it keeps going.
When it finishes you get a summary of what happened:
Articles and collections created. Your collections come across with their articles still grouped the way you had them.
Updated. Anything a previous import of the same help center created, refreshed.
Left alone. Articles you had edited here are never overwritten. Your edit wins.
Drafts skipped. Only published articles come across.
Sign-in only. If the source restricted an article, it arrives restricted too, and stays off your public help site.
Images that could not be brought across. See below.
Failed. The few that could not be converted, by name.
Imported articles arrive published
This is deliberate: airys can answer from them straight away, which is usually the whole point of importing.
It also means they are live on your help site immediately. Read a few before you send anyone there — content written for another tool often mentions that tool by name.
Images do not come across yet
Articles arrive as text. Any pictures in them are left behind and counted in the summary.
For now, add the important ones yourself — open the article here and drop the image into it. We are working on bringing them across for you.
Changed your mind
Undo this import unpublishes everything the import created. Articles you wrote yourself are untouched, and the imported ones become drafts rather than disappearing, so nothing is lost if you undo by accident.
Importing again later
Run it again whenever the other help center changes. Articles you have edited here are skipped, so a second import never undoes your work.
Keep the old help center up until you are happy with this one. Nothing about the import depends on it afterwards.
