Your help site can carry the same chat bubble as your website, so someone who read an article and still has a question does not have to go looking for you.

Turn on Chat on your help site in Settings › Help site.

What the visitor gets

The same bubble, the same answers, the same colours — it is your website chat, running in the corner of your help pages. A conversation started there lands in your inbox like any other.

Nothing else about your help site changes.

If the switch will not take

Two things can stop it, and we say which one it is.

“Add a site under Channels first.” The bubble runs on the same widget as your website chat, so there has to be a website chat to borrow. Set that up and come back.

Chat is set to signed-in customers only. Your help site has no sign-in of its own, so a visitor there has nothing to prove who they are with — and the bubble would never appear for anyone. Change Who can chat in Settings › Channels to show it here. See “Deciding who can chat”.

Should you turn it on?

Turn it on if you would rather hear from someone than have them give up on an article that nearly answered their question.

Leave it off if your help site is meant to deflect contact entirely, or if your chat is only for customers signed into your product.

You can change your mind at any time; it takes effect on the next page load.
