Your help site works from day one at the address airys gives you. You can also serve it from your own domain — help.yourcompany.com — so customers never leave your brand.

Open Settings › Help site.

What happens

  1. Enter the domain you want to use. A subdomain of a domain you already own is the usual choice.

  2. Add the record airys shows you at your DNS provider — wherever you bought the domain, or wherever your site is hosted.

  3. Wait. DNS changes take anywhere from a few minutes to a few hours.

  4. airys issues a certificate and switches your help site over.

The page shows one instruction at a time and updates itself as each step completes. There is nothing to refresh and nothing to come back and click.

If it seems stuck

DNS is slow more often than it is broken. If the page still asks for the record after an hour, check that you added it at the provider that answers for your domain today — a domain bought in one place and hosted in another is the usual culprit.

Check DNS asks airys to look again immediately rather than waiting for its next pass.

Keep the record in place

Leave the record where it is after your site goes live. The certificate renews on its own, and renewal uses the same record — remove it and airys will warn you on this page that the renewal is at risk. Your site keeps working while that warning is showing; it is a heads-up, not an outage.
